Answer

1)  How to choose good dry cat and dog food?
Initially of course you should check the most basic nutrition label on the package, the proportion of protein, fat, water content, fiber and ash, but many people usually ignore one very important point - INGREDIENTS. Usually the composition ratio of ingredients will be showed in descending order of proportion on packing. Take the example of a package of chicken dry food. Chicken should be the main ingredient and should be showed in the first place. However if the ingredient in the first place is corn or other grain, then this package of dry food is absolutely not of good quality, and this fact also shows that the source of protein is from grain, rather than extraction from meat. What dogs and cats need is protein from animal, not vegetable protein. Therefore, the raw ingredients is the most important to note when choosing dry food, and if you see a package that the first three ingredients are the source material of animal protein, this pack can be regarded as a qualified cat or dog food.

2)  Should I choose canned food or dry food for my cats / dogs?
There is no definite answer for this question as it depends on the pet owner's daily life habits and economic situation. We PetiStore supports pet owners to feed our cats and dogs with canned food comparing with dry food. However when the pet owners have busy working schedule from morning till late at night, even the owners cannot have time to treat themselves a good meal, how can they have time to make good food arrangements for the pets? But anyway, if pet owners choose to feed cats and dogs in a fast and convenient way, please still try to feed them with 50% dry food + 50% canned food, in order to provide them with sufficient amount of protein and water for their daily needs. Especially the cat's natural body structure makes them less sensitive to thirst sensation, so the canned food serves better to supply water to cats.

3)  Can we feed cats, dogs with canned food regularly on a long term basis? Would this habit be harmful to their teeth?
Strictly speaking dry cat food or dog food is not a suitable food form for their teeth. Cats, dogs are carnivorous, and their natural teeth structure is lack of molars which are the teeth for grinding food. Their teeth is in knife type, and they function by tearing food like meat. So dry cat and dog food is not a good food form for cats and dogs.
For canned food, there is no teeth cleaning effect either. But most canned food contains much more protein and higher water content, and this is good for carnivorous animals like cats and dogs. The only truly healthy way to protect cats’ or dogs’ teeth is brushing their teeth, and please start this habit when they are still small.

4)  I already often bathe my dog, but it still smells bad. What should I do?
It is actually no good way for skin health of a dog by bathing too often. Usually bathing every 10-14 days is a normal frequency. Too frequent bathing can cause dog sebum imbalance, it often results in skin inflammation, follicular obstruction and other diseases that cause bad odor.
Select a suitable shampoo (not too alkaline type), with appropriate frequency of bathing (once every 10-14 days and not more frequent than this). Comb them thoroughly every day (hair combing can take away dirt and dead hair). Feed enough food with adequate daily nutrition and the dog skin and fur will remain bright and fresh. (except bacterial infection)

5)  My cats often urinates anywhere in the house. Is it because the cats are too naughty?
In fact, there are many reasons for the cats to urinate casually anywhere in the house:

1)  According to experts, one reason maybe because the quantity of cat litter trays is not enough. Please do your best to prepare for them one extra tray. For example: if the family has one cat, you can prepare two trays; for two cats, try get them three trays; for three cats, please try to put four trays/litter box (so please try to prepare one extra tray based on the total number of cats you have).
2)  Cats may not be satisfied with the quality or texture of the cat litter. You can try to change cat litter into another texture type. For example, if initially you have been purchasing soybean curd cat litter, switch to pine wood cat litter; if you have been using pine wood cat litter, then try corn based cat litter, and so on.... You can also try to switch to different cat litter shapes, for example from strip/pillar shape to ball shape or vice versa.
3)  Try using some products to soothe cats' emotions, such as FELIWAY. This type of product allows the cat to feel more secured and relaxed. When the kitties don't feel nervous, they may not urinate anywhere in the house.
But please also note that cats may urinate irregularly also because of the urethra, bladder or kidney problems. On the other hand, cats are quite emotional animals. Environmental factors, changes within your family will also bring pressure on them and so they would urinate casually anywhere.
If you have made above changes, and there is still no improvement, you should do clinical check-up for the cats to see if they have health problem of incontinence or other illness.

6)  After each meal, my dog always vomits. Is it suffering from chronic illness?
If the dog vomits only after each meal and it does not happen at all during other times, it may be just because the dog has been eating too fast.
Try using some of the specially designed slow feeder pet bowl for containing the dog food. The special bowl design will prevent rapid eating habits and discomforts.
Alternatively, you can elevate the dog food bowl rack to the height just under dog's neck to avoid bending of neck. Or try to switch to eating food in large block form, so that dogs have to chew before swallowing, hoping this way can improve the vomiting situations.
Some dogs may be also grain or carbohydrate sensitive. You can switch to carbohydrate free or grain free dog food. If the dog's situation does not improve, you should consult the veterinarian for check-up.

7)  My cats often scratch my furniture, curtains, etc. Is there anything I can do to prevent this?
Please understand the cats' need for frequent scratching of furniture or other objects in order to sharpen their claws are inevitable. You can try to put up at home scratching toys, such as cat scratcher boards, scratcher posts, etc. Also you should also keep good habits of trimming their nails.
Although their scratching on furniture cannot be completely avoided, but the situation should be improved. If you love your cats, you should be prepared to accept cats' natural instinct and shortcomings.
Cat's unique adorable personality will bring endless fun to their owners. Their minor shortcomings should not bother us.
